I'm not quite sure what it is with Socialism and mosaics but they are pretty amazing and very few come better than the work of East German artist Walter Womacka. Two of his finest works can be found in Eisenhuettenstadt (click here for my previous blog entry about Eisenhuttenstadt).
Womacka is probably best known for his massive mosaic at the Haus des Lehrers near the Alexanderplatz in central Berlin.
