I was lucky enough to be invited to Torino last year for a small but impressive design fair called Operae but I have to admit the main reason I wanted to go was to visit the old Lingotto Fiat factory. Opened in 1923 it was the biggest car factory at the time but what's most special about it is the rooftop test track. The factory itself closed in 1982 and now houses a shopping centre, a concert hall, a conference centre, a gallery and and a hotel but the track is still right there on top of the building on the 5th floor. Below are a few more pictures of the track and the rather stunning spiral driveway which connects all the floors.
