Weihnachtsgurke Tree Decoration

Weihnachtsgurke (Christmas pickle/gherkin) is a German-American Christmas tradition. A decoration in the shape of a gherkin is hidden in the Christmas Tree, whoever finds it first will receive either a present or good fortune for the next year.

To be honest, as a German I had never heard of this until a few years ago but since then I fully adopted the Weihnachtsgurken tradition, wherever it may originate from. Oh, and forget about the good fortune, I want a present 🎁. 

Handmade in Lauscha (Germany) from blown glass. Lauscha has been the centre of German glass blowing production (Christmas baubles etc) for over 150 years.
