Maat Keyholder/Keyring
Ahoy sailor.
Lovely keyholders made from Reepschnur. The name Reep comes from the north German word for a nautical rope/cord.
Nowadays Reepschnur is used in many outdoor pursuits from sailing to climbing and mountaineering.
Maat is a naval rank, of German origin, used by a number of countries. The term is derived from the low German māt (comrade). Via the Dutch language, the word became a nautical term and describes the assistant to a deck officer.
Approx.46cm long with a nice little anchor engraving.
Made in Hamburg (Germany) from 8mm Reepschnur.
