Hase = Hare / Häschen = Little Hare.

Amazingly you can make almost anything little in German by adding a chen at the end. Try it, it really works. Thorsten....Thorstenchen. 

Also, in Germany the Easter Bunny is actually a Easter Hare (Osterhase) but this hare isn't just for Easter.
